I offer a range of services, from traditional editing and manuscript evaluations to coaching.

COACHING OR PEER MENTORING: More than 25 years of working with creative people has helped me develop a method of supporting them. I like the term "peer mentoring" because I approach my clients as peers and like to acknowledge that. Clients may be just beginning to explore their creativity. They may be seasoned professionals looking to move beyond existing blocks. They may be somewhere in between. Wherever you are, remember you have more inner creative resources than you think; my job is to help you access them. Through discussion, e-mail dialogue and assigned exercises we uncover self-limiting beliefs, refine work habits, identify blocks, and explore options for creating more energy for the work.

MANUSCRIPT EVALUATIONS. For those with completed manuscripts looking for some professional feedback, nothing can replace the one-on-one experience of working with a professional editor. Not writing books or even writing classes. Let me pinpoint problems in your fiction writing technique and give you invaluable advice on how to correct them. I review plot, structure, character development, point of view and motivations and suggest ways to make these more powerful. With non-fiction manuscripts, I can offer suggestions for restructuring in a more effective and innovative way. I can also guide writers in the use of powerful fiction techniques that make non-fiction more compelling. Let me start with 50 pages, give you a preliminary evaluation, and we can go from there.

EDITING. For those with completed manuscripts who are ready to submit to a publisher or agent, or who want to self-publish. I can provide several levels of editing: substantive and structural editing (big-picture suggestions for giving the manuscript greater clarity and power through structure, content and fiction techniques); line editing (line-by-line editing that addresses sentence structure, clarity of meaning and organization at the paragraph or individual page level); copy editing (spelling, punctuation, grammar, usage and other mechanics of style.) Please note that I am not offering proofreading at this time.
